Survival Succulents

Survival Succulents marked the first of my current creative expression. It started out of necessity during the pandemic, while isolated at home with my son. I needed to get out the pent-up energy and expression that had been waiting. I wanted to survive that time of unknown like I had watched succulents do, hardy and regardless of what was going on around them.

Tilly had many iterations, and finally she came into this form after seeing the beautiful documentary, My Octopus Teacher. Otherworldly and timeless, Tilly lives with realistic and surreal life forms in the depths of my ocean and my mind.

Georgia

Georgia was inspired by seeing a Pitcher plant at the Butterfly House in Missoula. She is the underwater, amalgamation of a sea turtle, in pitcher plant form, with an undercurrent of the painful vulnerability of my authentic self being seen for the first time by those I love.

Breaking Shame

Breaking Shame is what came forth in 2022 while I was working on my shame in recovery and therapy. My spiritual growth came with breaking the loud voice of shame with my passionate, flaming heart.

Willow Wind

I have always loved willow trees, and when I imagine a safe place, I envision myself held in the center of a willow, surrounded by its branches and weeping leaves.

Shadow Willow

This willow image was a representation of how I show all myself to the world, and simultaneously, a shadow subconscious where all my stuff gets worked out and activated, invisible to the world.
